Despite his success in the Anderson's 1997 movie Boogie Nights, Burt insists the pair did not get along.
During an interview with American magazine GQ, the actor, who gained an Oscar nomination for his role in the movie, says, "Personality-wise, we didn't fit.
"I think mostly because he was young and full of himself. Every shot we did, it was like the first time (that shot had ever been done).
"I remember the first shot we did in Boogie Nights, where I drive the car to Grauman's Theater... After he said, 'Isn't that amazing?' I named five pictures that had the same kind of shot. It wasn't original."
One director Burt would work with again is Hollywood veteran Clint Eastwood, and Angelina Jolie, who he has branded a great talent. He adds, "I think she's a great director. She has what her father has. Talent. And charisma."
