Lindsey Vonn Recovering After Knee Surgery

U.S. Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn is resting after undergoing surgery on Sunday (10Feb13) to repair knee ligaments torn in a nasty fall on the slopes last week (05Feb13).

The gold medallist is expected to make a full recovery following her operation at the Vail Valley Surgery Center in Colorado.

A statement from Dr. Bill Sterett of Vail-Summit Orthopaedics, the head physician for the U.S. Women's _A_lpine Ski Team, reads, "The overall success rate for _A_CL/McL (anterior cruciate ligament/medial collateral ligament) surgery is very good. Modern surgical techniques combined with aggressive rehabilitation will help Lindsey make a full recovery.

"She will do everything in her power to return as quickly as possible to competitive skiing."

Vonn had to be airlifted to hospital after crashing into a safety gate while competing at the _A_lpine Ski World Championships in Schladming, _A_ustria, on Tuesday (05Feb13).
