Bachchan had just finished a performance at the Make in India showcase of talent, culture, and business in Chowpatty Beach, Mumbai when a fire broke out onstage and rapidly spread due to strong winds, quickly engulfing the platform in flames.

The audience was evacuated and 14 fire trucks and ten water tankers rushed to the venue. It took the emergency crews more than 30 minutes to control the blaze, according to local reports.

Bachchan, who was in the parking lot at the time, wrote on Twitter.com, "I am safe and well... a providential escape from fire at Make in India event where i had just finished performing!...
