Although producers of American Idol have frequently disclosed the winning margin of finalists, they have not done so in the case of last week's showdown in which Kris Allen defeated favorite Adam Lambert, several published reports, including those in the New York Times and TVGuide.com, observed on Saturday. Although the producers had maintained that nearly 100 million votes were cast in the finals, even winner Allen hasn't been apprised of how many votes he received. "I haven't heard anything," he told TVGuide.com on Friday. "Maybe they didn't [disclose the margin of victory] for a reason. I don't know." Meanwhile, Access Hollywood host Billy Bush has claimed that the vote was not close and cited a source at the Idol telecast as saying that "Kris blew out Adam Lambert." Fox has declined to comment about the tallies.
