American Idol star TAYLOR HICKS has settled a lawsuit he filed against a Nashville, Tennessee producer over the rights to songs he recorded before finding fame. Hicks has taken possession of the master recordings of the three songs that were illegally issued to Internet music warehouse iTunes for download use by WILLIAM SMITH. Smith insisted he only made the recordings available to show fans just how good his former client was after his post-Idol single, DO I MAKE YOU PROUD, was savaged by critics. In exchange for the master recordings, Hicks has agreed not to pursue further court action against the producer.
