American Idol is in something of a dilemma with its new judging panel, with only one judge lined up for the next series of the show. Although now, the shows producers look to have been thrown a Latin lifeline in the shape of Enrique Iglesias who has reportedly been offered a role on the show, E! News has confirmed.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 37-year-old singer-songwriter has been offered a deal worth around $4 million per year in a deal that will make him one of four brand new judges on the panel. So far, Fox has made no comment on the reported deal with the singer, son of fellow ladies man Julio Iglesias.
So far, Mariah Carey is the only judge confirmed for a spot on the next series of the show, with her planning on joining up with long-time album contributor Randy Jackson on the panel. However, Jackson announced that he was stepping down from the role as judge a few weeks ago leaving the door open to three new panellists, making the next series of American Idol the first to feature an entirely new judging panel. Reports have since emerged saying that country star Keith Urban and pop singer/occasional rapper Nicki Minaj are both close to finalizing deals to become judges, with Minaj allegedly close to signing a deal.
