American Idol contestant James Durbin wowed the judges with a rendition of Carole King's hit song 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' on last night's show (27th April 2011). American Idol judge Randy Jackson suggested that Durbin was "a great singer", adding that he "just might win the whole thing".
It was suggested that Durbin may struggle on an evening dedicated to the songs of King, but he surprised many with his reworking of the singer-songwriter's biggest hit. Beginning the song acapella, Durbin slowly increased the pace before launching into an impressive rock arrangement much to the delight of the live studio audience. He also changed the track's key lyrics to "You Better Love Me Tomorrow". Elsewhere on the show, Jacob Lusk capitalised on last week's positive feedback with an enthusiastic performance of 'Oh No, Not My Baby' and Haley Reinhart kept on the pressure with a solid performance of 'Beautiful'. Casey Abrams, Lauren Alaina and Scott Mccreery were praised by the judges but failed to gain the level of acclaim they have received in previous weeks.
Another of the American Idol contestants will be eliminated on tonight's results show (28th April 2911), leaving just five left in this year's competition. Bruno Mars will be the evening's special guest, performing 'The Lazy Song' and 'Just The Way You Are'.
