The first edition took place on 18 May 1970 in the Limburg city of Geleen, where Pinkpop was performed 17 times. In 1987 there was a one-time-only edition in Barlow. From 1988 onwards, Pinkpop has been organized at Evenemententerrein Megaland in the town of Landgraaf in the province of Limburg, and in 2013 the festival will take place there for the 26th time. Pinkpop was completely sold out 23 times, including the final seven editions.
