Ali Larter loves the "freedom and ease" of her new short haircut.

The 'Obsessed' actress has recently gone from having long to short hair for the first time in "years" and her hairdresser, Andy LeCompte, said it has given her a new lease of life.

He told People: "Ali was looking for a totally re-vamped look. Cutting your hair is a big step for a lot of people, and Ali has had long hair for years. She was excited and ready for the change.

"She really had a strong idea that she was ready for a fresh new look and was not uncertain at all. Ali is loving her new cut! She loves the freedom and ease of it."

Andy also told how the 35-year-old actress - who has 10 month old baby Theodore with husband Hayes MacArthur - has a great deal of flexibility to her new hairstyle and can wear it in a number of different ways.

He added: "Shorter hair is great for fuss-free styling, which complements the busy lives of mothers everywhere - not just in Hollywood.

"I also think new mothers experience this newfound confidence and find it liberating to not hide behind their hair."

"For so long the ideal hair for a woman was long, flowy and down to your hips. Women are experimenting more and are realising that you don't have to sacrifice your femininity if you cut your hair."
