Alfonso Ribeiro isn't surprised by Amanda Bynes' struggles.

The former 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air' star claims the 28-year-old actress, who continues to display erratic behaviour despite recently being released from involuntary psychiatric hold for the second time, acted strangely on the set of their film, 'Love Wrecked' in 2005.

The 43-year-old actor said: ''I think she has a real medical issue. I did a movie with her 10 years ago and there was stuff wrong then. She'd just drift off. I'd be like, 'Uh, we're having a conversation. Where'd you go?' ''

The 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant believes his parents helped him escape the child star curse.

He told InTouch magazine: ''My parents didn't' give me everything I wanted. The curse is when you lose perspective.

''I've had my highs and lows, but I've worked for over 30 years. I've lived a charmed life.'' Meanwhile, he is still close friends with his former co-star Will Smith.

He said: ''Yes, we still get together several times a year.''

Alfonso, who has son AJ, 13 months, with his pregnant wife Angelia, and daughter Sienna, 12, from a previous relationship, is gearing up to host the Food Network show 'Unwrapped' in February.

He said: ''I'm in a new phase of my career, I have my kids and another on the way - it's all pretty amazing.''
