British singer Alexandra Burke pulled out of rehearsals for a major concert to sing at a funeral for a family friend last week (31Jul12).
The pop star called off her commitments ahead of the BT London Live show in London's Hyde Park so she could perform her tribute to tragic teenager Stace Kennedy at the St. Marylebone Crematorium in the U.K. capital.
Kennedy suffered from liver disease and died on 16 July (12) - just weeks after he turned 19.
Burke insists it was "an honour" to sing her rendition of Leonard Cohen's ballad Hallelujah for Kennedy, who was a friend of her younger brother Aaron.
She says, "It was an honour to sing for Stace at his send-off. Even though I didn't know him that well, I knew he was great friends with my younger brother Aaron and I just had to be there. I send my condolences and best wishes to his family and friends."
