The cage fighter was dumped by reality TV star Chantelle - with whom he has three-month-old daughter Dolly - on twitter just two days after he was arrested trying to force entry into their home in Brentwood, Essex, South East England, on September 5.
But he thinks they can save their romance if they see a counsellor.
He told Now magazine: ''We both need help. Professional help. Even if we're not going to be together romantically, we've got a little girl. But Chantelle doesn't think of any of this as her problem.
''Even now, I'm positive. I'm willing to work at something and will never say die. I've offered to go to counselling with her, but she's not interested.''
While Alex, 37, remains positive about being able to repair their relationship, Chantelle, 29, is adamant they will not get back together.
She wrote in her New! magazine column: ''It's been a difficult week, as I'm sure people will understand.
''It's only been a matter of days since Alex and I split so it's still very raw and I am really, really upset.
''I tried everything in my power to make my relationship work. I have been trying to keep busy with Dolly - after all, she is the most important one in all of this.''
Alex also admits he's not ready to speak with Chantelle yet, as he is hurting too much over her decision to dump him.
He added: ''Even now I don't want to speak to her because it hurts so much. She calls me a lot wanting to speak to me. She said, 'I can't believe you're not fighting for me.' I was like, 'Hang on, I was arrested and you split up with me on twitter!' ''
Gritty and involving, this small British thriller is like Memento crossed with The Bourne Identity...
