Alan Carr is quitting his Radio 2 show in order to reclaim his weekends. The TV chat show has presented the Saturday evening slot on the Bbc station since 2009, but has decided to hang up his headphones, reports the Press Association.
Carr - who also signalled his intention to work on his Channel 4 show 'Chatty Man' - said, "I've loved every minute of it but it's time to reclaim my weekends. I wish Radio 2 every success but I'll listen from my home in the future instead". The star's show 'Going Out with Alan Carr' (with co-host Melanie Sykes) is one of Radio 2's most popular weekend shows, though it is unclear whether Sykes will stay on. The station's head of programmes Lewis Carnie said, "We'd like to thank Alan for his contribution over the past three years.Alan and his co-presenter, Mel Sykes, have made a terrific contribution to Saturday evenings on Radio 2.We'll be announcing plans for a new Saturday evening programme shortly".
