Rocker Al Jourgensen is grateful to be an American citizen because his earliest childhood memory is leaving Cuba on one of the few overcrowded planes given permission to take-off by Fidel Castro.

The Ministry frontman was only three years old when his family became political refugees following Castro's successful communist revolution on the Caribbean island.

He says, "I remember being on one of the last over-crowded plane-loads that Castro let out of Cuba.

"It must have been pretty traumatic because I was only about three years old, and I actually remember that plane ride.

"I understood at an early age that with the American embargo on Cuba - and being a political refugee - becoming an American citizen was a big deal."
