Top Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has been offered a lead role in the new James Bond movie - just days after she was hospitalised following an accident on set.

But the Indian beauty has yet to accept the part, in which she would star opposite Pierce Brosnan.

Rai's secretary HARI SINGH confirmed the former MISS WORLD had been approached by a London-based agency on behalf of the studio producing Bond movies.

He says, "It is too premature to comment, but the agency guys are in town and they did mention that they were keen on discussing Aishwarya for a Bond film"

The secretary added that talks with Rai had been postponed due to an injury to her foot - which she sustained after a Jeep struck her on the set of Bollywood flick KHAKEE - but said she was very "excited" about the offer.

She has been advised to rest and could be out of action for up to six weeks.

The actress is reportedly slated to perform in two Hollywood projects - Gurinder Chadha's Pride And Prejudice and INVADERS, directed by Roland Joffe.
