Adam Levine only agreed to create a fragrance if he had total creative control.
The Maroon 5 frontman - who once said he would like there to be an official ban on celebrity scents - has designed both a men's and women's fragrance but says it was important for him to be involved with every process.
He said: ''I wouldn't have been able to do this if I didn't have the creative control. Otherwise it would have wound up being something that I didn't endorse, and I'd be stuck standing here feeling like an a**hole.''
When it came to creating the female scent, Adam says he spoke to a lot of women to get their take on it.
He told People: ''I got opinions from...all the women I could find.''
''It's just a very subtle scent. It's not something that completely overtakes a room. I like the idea of proximity, which is that you have to be close to someone to really experience it.''
Speaking about the men's scent, Adam said: ''I'm proud to say that I do love it and I wear it.''
