A 13-year-old homeless boy in India is hoping to win an OSCAR next Sunday (27FEB05) - but will be working hard at school when the winners are announced.

The youngster - called SALIM - appears in Best Short Film nominee THE LITTLE TERRORIST, about a Pakistani boy who crosses into Indian territory in search of a cricket ball and is protected from security forces by a Hindu teacher.

Salim, who only has one name, says, "My life has changed a lot."

The teenager, who has been reunited with his parents but still lives in a residential home for street children in India's capital city New Delhi, will be in school on Sunday when the winner is announced at the Academy Awards.
