U.S. sports commentator Rhonda Glenn has died, aged 68.

Glenn passed away on Thursday (12Feb15) at a hospital in Gainesville, Florida, after losing her battle with cancer.

She was the first ever full-time female sportscaster for a national network, working as an anchor for Espn in 1981, and she was also a golf commentator for network ABC for 16 years.

Away from presenting, Glenn was a passionate golfer and played in five U.S. Women's Amateur Championships and two U.S. Women's Opens, winning the Florida East Coast Golf Tournament in 1965.

She retired from the sport in 2013.
