CNN, which has been struggling to hold on to viewers on the strength of its journalism, is losing arguably its leading foreign correspondent, Christiane Amanpour, who has been named the new host of ABC's Sunday-morning feature This Week. In a statement, CNN Worldwide President Jim Walton said that Amanpour's "work burnished our news brand and gave it authority." The selection of Amanpour came as a surprise to many observers, who had assumed that the network would select one of its own correspondents to replace George Stephanopoulos, who was named host of the network's Good Morning America. Amanpour is expected to take over hosting duties on This Week in August.
