ABC, which recently canceled The One after the show drew ratings that equaled its title, launched another reality show Monday night that also appeared dead on arrival. One Ocean View (another series with "one" in the title) recorded a 2.5 rating and a 4 share in overall household ratings and a tiny 1.5/4 among adults 18-49. Underlining the probability of a short life for the series, the show lost 15 percent of its audience in the second half. One Ocean View had received a drubbing from critics. Mark A. Perigard in the Boston Herald called it a "dope opera" that "comes off as The Dumb and the Restless." Tom Shales' review in the Washington Post was headed "Six Degrees of Stuporation." He wrote: "The participants are pathologically boring."
