Aaron Paul is in talks for the screen adaptation of 'The Dark Tower'.

The 'Breaking Bad' actor - who was catapulted to the spotlight as Jesse Pinkman in the hit series - is in negotiations with 59-year-old filmmaker Ron Howard about the character of Eddie Dean, who is a lead figure in the Stephen King book series of the same name.

He has been quoted saying: ''I've had a ton of meetings on that. I just had a general sit down with Ron Howard, who is a huge fan of the show [Breaking Bad], which is such a crazy thing to even think that Ron Howard even knows who I am.

''They're definitely planning on making it. I'm excited. Their goal is to do three films, but also have a television element to it, which will be very interesting. From what I hear, Eddie Dean is a pretty epic, iconic character.''

'The Dark Tower' was stalled in pre-production when Universal studios dropped the project, however Warner Bros. expressed interest in August 2012, but passed a few weeks later.

Howard later confirmed it was a working progress and they still had plans to create the Western.
