Bollywood star Aamir Khan is suing a movie magazine for using his photograph to advertise their film awards.

The Indian actor is demanding 21 million rupees ($4.5 million/GBP2.5 million) and an apology for using the photo, which appeared in an advert in The Times of India newspaper, without his prior consent.

Khan's lawyer ANAND DESAI says that his client objected to the use of his picture and the suggestion "he is endorsing Filmfare" magazine.

The actor has shunned Filmfare award ceremonies since winning the Best Debut award in 1989 for his movie QAYAMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK.

He also failed to attend this year's (06) ceremony, despite being nominated in the Best Actor category for his performance in Mangal Pandey (The Rising).
