Matt Roberts, former guitarist of rock band 3 Doors Down, has died at the age of 38.
The musician was found dead in a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, hotel room on Saturday (20Aug16) after an apparent accidental prescription drugs overdose, his father Darrell told editors at TMZ.com.
Matt had rehearsals until 1am on Saturday, as he was scheduled to perform at a charity event just outside Milwaukee later that night. He went back to his hotel with his father shortly afterwards, and Darrell said he was later woken by police at 9am who told him Matt had died in the night.
The rocker formed 3 Doors Down along with Brad Arnold and Todd Harrell in 1996. Matt left the band in 2012 for health issues concerning blood circulation in his body.
A representative for the band has yet to comment on the report.
